HCV Test Kit INTRODUCTION The HCV rapid test kit is a qualitative, membrane based double antibody sandwich principle for the detection of antibody to HCV in serum or plasma. The nitrocellulose membrane is pre-coated with high-purified recombinant HCV antigen on the test line and anti-HCV antibodies on the control line. SPECIMEN COLLECTION Separate serum and use the serum for testing. If the specimen cannot be tested in time, store the test specimen 7 days at 2-8°C.Over 7 days, store in a refrigerator or freezer. Do not freeze and thaw the specimen repeatedly. TEST PROCEDURE Follow the illustration and allow test kit to equilibrate to room temperature prior to testing. 1. Remove the test card from the foil pouch and lay it flat on a clean, dry and non-absorbent surface. 2. Drop serum/plasma into sample well, wait 15-20 minutes and read result. Do not read results after 25 minutes. READING RESULTS Positive: In addition to a pink colored control band, a distinct pink colored band will also appear in the test region. Negative: Only one colored band appear on the control region. No apparent band on the test region. Invalid: A total absence of color band in both (T) and (C) regions or no colored band appears on the control (C) region is an indication of procedure error and/or that the test reagent has deteriorated. Repeat with a new test kit.
